Countdown to Go Time Part 2

Ice is coming now if forecast for next week holds. 

Saw a buried cable flag today. Thought it was a tip up for a split second. 

I'm off December 18th to January 5th. Hoping to get on the ice in that time frame. I'm in Burlington, but will travel a bit. Used to go up to Woodruff and fish Carroll early ice every year. I'm too old and tired to do all that solo anymore. 100 miles is my new limit I've imposed on myself. 

I have a newer fishing buddy at work that has the same time frame off. He's never been on the ice so hoping to drag him somewhere and get him hooked.

I’m guessing December 1st up north. It can happen in a few days once a blast hits..We shall see. 

I’m way behind the 8ball getting stuff ready. Have to finish up getting ready for winter. Hopefully it holds off for a bit.

I guess one too many years of rocks and coals in your stocking. lol
Move farther north if it bothers you that much. 
I was looking long-term in the Coulee region. Future Forecasting below freezing highs and low teens for lows early Dec. That will start the process unless warm weather returns.  Usual around the holidays for first ice adventures.

Looks like St.Nick will be bringing a stocking stuffer of cold air.

3 week trend back to below average! Hang in there folks, it might be a little later than most years this year but we will get there!

Going to hit 70 degrees down here next week and not get cold until at least mid December. New season, same story...

So cold up north the last week…. Ponds have frozen. Just a tease. Gonna warm up this weekend. But still pretty cold, 
The El Niño thing usually proves true. But up here, we’ll still have plenty of ice either way. We could use less snow after what we had last winter and it’ll be easier to walk around on the ice. 

Used to be able to walk out on ponds and bayou's two weekends after Thanksgiving in Central WI. 

Yes, there is not much of a season down here MCC, about when I get ready to go it's over...... lol

I'm looking to be hunting the second weekend of deer hunting...... hope so...

suppose to be el ninjo this year, english..... means a warmer jet stream pattern over midwest= milder winter..... 
good & bad ??  like mild winter/ also like to ice fish?   what say you guys?

In 2019 I remember ice fishing the weekend before gun deer season in Madison.  That's the earliest I ever ice fished. It's about every 3 or 4 years we have fishable ice by Thanksgiving on some backwaters here. I hope we have a cold November this year!
