Fished for crappies on Wednesday 4/22 and Thursday 4/23. No one was catching a thing, but nice bass were all over the north shallows, and a few walleye by the launch surprisingly. Weed growth on the north end where we typically find the crappies was almost non existant, and the water was crystal clear. We found a small pod of crappies way to the south over some nice weed growth and got seven on Wednesday and five on Thursday. They wanted the bait to be moving about seven ft. down. Also got a nice 19 inch bass later on the north end. Crappies were very nice including two 13.5 inches. Minnows outproduced plastics.
Partly Sunny
Got to the launch about 9:30. Looked wavy out there but OK what the heck. After getting set up I realized that the boat keys were left at home. Could have used the trolling motor but it would have been a b!tch getting it back on the trailer with all of this wind. Going Sunday instead.
I don't know for certain, BB, but if I were considering fishing there today I'd go ahead and go. The lake will certainly be ice free and if the pier isn't in, it's an easy spot to beach the boat.
Chenequa usually has been pretty good about pier-in and pier-out dates. Probable because those big private piers around the lake need to go in and out...the launch pier helps with the barge...and the village is VERY responsive to lake residents. lol

Yes ....... guess I'm showing my age. I believe it was 1990. It was the day before Super Bowl Sunday. I had a feast of food for 25 guys in the back of my Subaru wagon which was 2 months old including a whole smoked pig. I was providing the food for the poker fest during the game at my brothers house. Well the guy comes running out of the house asking if we're OK. Yes all is good. 30 Seconds later we watched the car slide in. The resident says " I hope you don't hit the van that's down there. Went down 3 hours ago" WHAT??? No hole No barricades? The next day the diver comes up and asks if everyone got out OK. Yes. Well there looks like something is in there. Maybe a pig. Well sure enough. There is way more to the story like calling my wife to come and pick us up. She tells me the restaurant she is a waitress at just told the employees they were closing. Double whammy. Lots more details not admitted to on this post. But If anyone wants to fish and you ask I'll fill you in. BB
