Rockland Lake

Fished a couple hours this afternoon, four decent gills. Two in ~20 ft, two suspended around 12 ft. Solid 5” of ice. Happy New Year!

Got out this afternoon for a few hours. Did ok. One small bass, a crappie, a perch, and a few decent gills. Threw back 6 others that were small. Kept a half dozen. Ice was decent, around 5" where I was fishing. I did find one spot closer to shore that was 4".

Just an FYI. Tried to get on the lake at the pier access. Open water at the head of the pier so it's very sketchy bordering completely unsafe. Turned around and went home. Gotta wait til things lock back up. Looking like a week at best.

JWH, the only public access is on Durand. You walk across the grass and access by the long pier that's kinda hidden by the marsh grasses. I always try to park just ahead of the speed limit sign. The camp is YMCA. Unless you are a member I don't think that will be ok to use for access. Good luck. 

What’s the best way to access Rockland Lake? It looks like there’s a road off of Durand Ave across from Davidson Drive that goes by a campground and then to the boat launch. Thanks!

Fished this morning from 9 am til 1 pm. Bounced around looking for any activity. Managed to catch 2 nice perch and a nice sunny, as well as a 10" bass. All released. Never marked much at all. Fished from 7 fow to 15 fow, mostly on the north end. Ice was a solid 6" everywhere I drilled. Hopefully this warm period will not affect it too much. Might try to get out Wednesday after work. If so, a report will follow. God bless ya!

Did an ice conditions check on Monday morning. 4" next to dock. 1.5" ten feet out from there. Yikes! With the snow cover it might just take a week to get really good and safe. I might check again this morning to see if it's progressing at all. Be safe everyone!
