Is there still muskies in the lake?

Has anyone been out lately?  From what I can tell, nobody has.  My estimate before the warm-up two weekends ago was that there were almost 15 inches of ice in spots.  We have had some fairly cold weather over the last 10 days or so.

Blessed Man-  I am not sure how the ice is holding up.  I drove by on Sunday afternoon, and some people were still out fishing.  Very odd looking since all the permanent ice houses had been removed.

I am guessing you are familiar with the lake, but if not, the ice can get very funny here.  There was open water; in fact, over half the lake was open water about 4 weeks ago.  Three weeks after that, there were full-size trucks on the lake.  Last year, we were on 6 inches of ice down by the park, and the south end was all open water.  Two days earlier, there was an area of open water on the south end about the size of an area rug.

If I hear anything from anyone, I will report back.

Fished from 1pm to dark. Nothing! Marked a lot of fish in 15 feet of water. High pressure didn't help at all, along with a northwest wind. Fished from 27 feet down to 10 feet. Nothing happening. I didn't see anyone else doing much.

12 to 13 inches of ice everywhere we were. Saw several vehicles on the ice also. Very little snow so travel was great.

I am not sure if they are from the public launch. I can tell you this though. There were numerous UTVs on the ice yesterday evening. I also saw two vehicles on the ice. One was by a shanty on the CTH F side and then I saw a van driving in the same general area.

I am not sure about a derby this weekend. I believe Camp Lake has a derby today. I am thinking about going out this afternoon.  It's crazy to think that half of this lake was open water less than two weeks ago.

Stay away from the launch, it's the worst spot on the lake right now, I made it out from there tonight but it was cracking in the spot right by the beaver dam as I stayed to the left side as I passed thru. Last week Thursday night before the rains I fell thru there... I went thru 4 separate times to get my livescope and alpha Ion before they went down with sled that was tipped on it's side as it followed me in. A guy had a bunch of muskrat traps/holes all over, which didn't help the area while we had the warm up/rains. Float Suits work get one! Got lucky no damage to any of my gear.
There is 6.5" of ice everywhere I was today. There's a few open water spot's around the lake, they're easily seen with the snow cover and there's good ice next to them.

Was out last sat before the rain the launch was trashed so the rain on sun screwed it ,we've had a number of cold days now you can take the trail ,go by the town BP or make sure you check the ice if you go out the launch with a kid.Make it memorable not miserable.Typically if you see vehicles in the lot and people on the ice from there the launch area should be good to go.
