How's everyone's fishing been lately??

Last Friday 8/14 - I went out on the Red Cedar just below the dam in Cedar Falls. I trolled very slow from about 7 p.m to 9 p.m with a cralwer harness and absoluetly smashed the walleye and smallies. Nothing huge 12"-15" eyes and about the same on the smallies. Idk if it was the storm that got the fishing going or not, interested if anyone else had luck around the area!?

Also went out on Sunday on Tainter and worked the shorelines on the upper part. I had zero luck for the most part well my buddy smashed em, I switched to the bait he was using and my luck turned around. Number 5 Hornet crankbait.

Good Luck Fishing!

Those are some nice Pike Cronk! Good for you man! Good to hear the panfish bite is taking  off! I don’t do much pan fishing but I think I am going to have to do more.

Saturday morning I drifted in the big 10 foot flat just north of the boat landing and caught some decent eyes and a few small pike. I was using bottom bouncers with leeches! Lotta people fishing south of that as well, although I’m not sure how they did!

Glad we can keep this forums going!

Everything is relative and what I say are "nice" I meant mostly the bluegill. Last night in Menomin they averaged 8.5-9.0" with very few smaller ones.  The crappies were all identical between 10.5 and 11.0", but 12+ are common.  The panfish in here are round and thick so an 11" crappie is pushing 1 lb.

Good Fishing!

Team Lamboat - If you don't mind me asking, what would you say is the average size of the crappies you were catching? Haven't fished Menomin yet, and just trying to get an idea of what the fishery is like. Thanks!

Bduncan, I was on Menomin yesterday evening from 6:00 to 8:45pm.  My son and I had good luck drifting worms in 8-9' on the flat on the east part of the lake.  When the wind died, the fishing died.  All nice gills and crappies and one 16" eye.  Cronk reported on the chetek chain page that he did good on tainter last night as well.... not sure what he was fishing for.  Panfish are feeding like crazy in this warm water, they seem like they want the bait moving.

Anyone having any luck on Tainter or Menomin as of late?

I went a couple times this week and it was pretty slow, worked a few shorelines on upper Tainter this last sunday and caught a few decent smallies.

Went out on Wednesday evening on the river and found some decent crappies trying for Walleye ( of course that would happen!)

Airbourne..I've caught northern there before with these little fresh water lamp lampreys attached in Tainter.  Menomin has them too...I've seen them in the Red Cedar clear up by Cameron.  I grew up in Cumberland and when I was a kid we used to catch them by hand in the Hay River..i saw one while I was  fishing Trout in the Yellow river once by Rice Lake.

I was out fishing last night. Found some jumbo perch on this lake mixed with a few keeper walleyes mixed in. It was a pleasant weekend. However, I did catch a perch with an interesting attachment. This perch has about a 7 inch lamprey stuck to it. I am familiar with these in the great lakes salmon fishing but I have never seen one on an inland lake this far south and east. Has anyone experienced this before?
