Hey guys, i’m sure there’ll be differing opinions on this but what are your thoughts on a very capable and coordinated father son team launching a 20 foot pontoon below the dam. We are extremely good at it on lake ramps we are in and out within one minute, we got it down we know what we’re doing. My question is below the dam. Does it seem like a pontoon would be too long for the slope of the launch? Also, what about the current? Is it heavy right there where it’s going to turn the boat sideways too quickly? By the way, we have a scissor trailer, but we don’t use the scissor mechanism. We just glide it off and on fully extended.
Thanks Crawdaddy. I guess I misspoke when saying "starting here". This was an established thread but hadn't been posted on since 2023. I thought there might be a newer thread I was missing. I went through the other Dubay threads and couldn't find the #. Anyways, thanks for the reply and good luck fishing.
on the fishing reports page, top right just above where it says "last post" is a search box. Type in "dubay". The Dubay threads will come up. Try that instead of starting yet another one next time you can't find a post page.
The number is 715-422-3700 will give you the flow rates at Dubay, Point, and Rapids as well as temperature. They will usually say when the landing is closed which I think the flow rate where they close the landing is about 12,000 cfs. Flow is below 10,000 now so the landing should be open..

I couldn't find a more recent thread, so starting here. I'm trying to find out how to know if the landing at the dam is open. If I recall there was a phone # to call that gave the daily flow rate and then there was a certain # that when it got too high / fast it was closed. If anyone could share those details it would be appreciated. If not, I'd be grateful if someone could just confirm the landing has been open. Hoping to head there this weekend with the kids. Also, how is navigation heading downstream? Any specific spots to look out for or is it fairly easy navigation? Fished twice from Beans Eddy on the Lake Dubay / Mosinee stretch and catching lots of small ones. Just want to explore new water.
Thanks for any info and messenger is on if you want to help that way.
