Went out on the 4th, from 8-10am. Caught a nice sized cat and a short walleye. Was rigging one of my rods and had the other one set against the pier. Just finished rigging my rod only to look up to see the other rod getting yanked over the pier! If anyone catches a fish with a St. Croix Triumph 7' rod and a Lew's speed reel with yellow braid message me.

Went below the damn this morning for a few hours, managed some catfish and a few short walleye. Cats were hitting a floating jig and minnow.
Now up to 57,000. And, yes it does impact shore fishing. The water rises up into the trees and makes it nearly impossible to fish at all. Dangerous to be near the water at all. Can be exciting just to witness the power up close.
Does the 40,000 CFM affect the shore fishing as well?
Thanks for any information.
Normal summer flow is about 3,000 cfs. 40,000 is impressive amount of flow. Even if you have a reliable boat, the amount of debris and current makes being on the water now a serious risk. The landing under the Hwy 10 overpass that many use when the Dubay landing is closed is very likely flooded
Hi guys I was just there yesterday in the boat a lot of water coming out of the dam fishing with gig & minnows a lot of small fish
Ceci, go look at 40K it is incredible. Same story under the dams in Stevens Point. I am pretty new to River fishn as well but anything over 10K my little 14 footer is pushing it.
I am new to river fishing so could someone please help me understand at what number of water flow the fishing is safer and better. Or, is there a better time in the Spring to fish this area? Also, can someone let me know where the boat landings are that will get me to the dam.
Thank you very much.
