First day fishing this lake was Wednesday, then on Saturday and today.  Drilled a lot of holes to find cooperating fish, yellow bass. All holes were within a 30 to 40 yard area. I knew the fish were in the area so it was a matter of drying holes t0 find fish which were ready to bite. Today, I ended up with 16 with 14 of them coming from one hole over about a 2 hour period. They ranged from 8-9" with a 9.5 and 10 inch fish. Missed countless others which got off as I was reeling them up. With the warmer weather, this is probably the last day to fish on hardwater.

Fishing has been great.  Lots of yellow bass, with a few crappies and bluegills mixed in.  Just don't drive a truck out there.

“Strippers are all over the lake roaming around”

kind of a party atmosphere on the lake. I guess. ??

Danedogs

Crystal lake is in Dane & Columbia county's, so it's illegal to drive a vehicle over 850lbs on the ice.

I heard Sunday afternoon a Dane County Sheriffs deputy was writing tickets to people driving on the ice with their trucks. Anybody know anything about this?

Strippers( yellow bass) are all over the lake roaming around. Just go out anyplace in the middle and use red spikes and you will catch a bunch. they roam around a lot so you mite have to wait for them to come thru. Most of them are 8 to 9 inches

Anyone finding any white or yellow bass? My son wants to catch some through the ice really bad for some reason. Been trying lake WI with no luck.

any insights would be greatly appreciated. Haven’t fished this lake in years with the flooding.

Just a follow up on the Fisharee.  $7,708 was raised through registration, raffles and miscellaneous donations.  Plus 198 lbs. of goods were donated all for charity.  THANK YOU to everyone who was there to participate.  With out you guys none of this would have been possible.  Special thanks to Tammy who runs the bar at Schoepps.  She was up very early in the morning, and we had such a great crowd the Schoepps was open till bar time.  That gal worked pretty much 24 hours straight tending to hundreds of people.  Keep in mind she has a full time job elsewhere.  This was our first year doing it, and we definitely have room for improvements.  Hoping to make next years event bigger and better.

I was out there for the fisheree. If the goal was to catch fish, I did alright but that wasn’t my goal as I was hoping to catch keepers. Probably threw back 30 or so. Mostly perch but a couple bluegill. Pulled up 2 white bass but let them go. I was hole hopping all over straight out from the public landing from 7-2. On the north end, I talked to a man who pulled up a decent amount of white bass in the morning but then it slowed down. I think this is my last time trying crystal lake.

It’s worth noting, outside of one or two crappies, even the winners of the Fisheree had what I would consider small panfish. I ideally only keep 8” bluegill and up but I’m convinced there’s not even any of those out at Crystal Lake.
