What aquatic invasive species are found in Beebe Lake?
Join us in the fight to prevent the spread of invasive species These sneaky creatures can hitch a ride on boats, clinging onto propellers, anchor lines, and trailers. They can even survive in hidden places like bilge water and ballast tanks, or disguise themselves in dirt and sand that sticks to nets, buckets, anchors, and waders. But don't worry, we have the power to stop them in their tracks with just a few simple steps. So let's do our part and protect our waters from these unwanted invaders.
History & Status of the Fishery
A survey of near shore fish species was conducted on Beebe Lake on July 14-16, 2016 by Sauk Rapids Area staff. Ten sampling sites were evenly spaced around the shoreline and each site was sampled by backpack electrofishing and seining.
Nearshore sampling captured 12 species of fish, including one intolerant species (Iowa Darter). The near shore fish survey data will be combined with gill net and trap net data from a July 2016 standard survey to describe the fish community and provide a fish-based Index of Biotic Integrity (FIBI) score based on expectations for similar lakes.
This survey is contributing to a watershed assessment process in coordination with the MN Pollution Control Agency. Beebe Lake is located in the North Fork Crow River Watershed.
