History & Status of the Fishery
A survey targeting age-0 Walleyes was conducted at Lake Washington on 10 October 2023 using 59 minutes of standard boat electrofishing. Twenty-five age-0 Walleyes were sampled for a catch rate of 25.4/hour on-time. Age-0 Walleye averaged 8.8 inches and ranged from 6.7 inches to 11.4 inches. The Lake Washington management plan was changed in 2019 to include odd-year stocking of Lower Mississippi strain Walleye fry. The mean catch rate since 2017 during fry stocked years (n=4) was 28.0/per hour on-time while non-stocked years (n=3) have averaged 65.0/hour on-time.
