The assessment consisted of 40 survey sites evenly spaced 200 meters around the lake. Assessments were made in three habitat zones: Shoreline Zone (the shore-water interface to the top of the natural bank), Shoreland Zone (land-ward from shoreline to development structure or 100 feet), and Aquatic Zone (lake-ward 50 feet of shoreline). The average lakewide habitat score was 75.0 (+/- 3.3) out of 100 possible indicating moderate shoreline condition. Approximately 40 percent of the sites were developed with a much lower mean score of 58.5 (+/- 5.0) compared to undeveloped sites with a mean score of 86.0 (+/- 2.5).

I've been fishing this lake since the 80's. The Lake was a great Bass/Northern lake... In the 90's it was hit and miss. My the mid 2000's the lake took a total dive... you'd be lucky to hit a 2 lb. Bass...and I've not pulled Northern out the lake in quite some time... My wife likes to go to the lake for Bluegill, but not many of eating size.... Eagle was a top 5 metro lake but now I would rather go to elsewhere. I think it just gets too much pressure and people take home fish that should be thrown back... used to be that if you caught a Bass over 4 lbs or a Northern over 8, it would be released; now people keep every thing.... No chance for the lake to replenish itself... might be one of the reasons fishing is dwindling here in the land of 10,000 lakes....

I had a lot of success ice fishing here this winter. I was on eagle lake about 8 times this winter. I fished the deep holes, but only caught small perch. I had the most success in the corner of the lake oposite the acceses. I fished in 5' - 9' of water near a channel and a house with a big rack of boats or canoes. I caught a lot of bluegills, with almost half being "eating size". I was not hard to limit out in a couple of hours. some nice northerns and a few nice perch there too. As a bounus, I usually got to watch a lot of deer crossing the channel.
