The entrance at 10180 Trask Bridge Road (Highway 70), Pecatonica, IL 61063 has a sporting dog training area that is open year round. It requires on-site day use registration at no charge. Rules and regulations are posted. Dogs should be kept within training posted boundary signs. There are 25 acres of upland field training area and 1/2 acre pond for retriever training. This is a great area for those wanting to run and train their sporting breed pointers, flushers, and retrievers.

Early June 2020: The entire "lake" is so covered with moss it's a waste of time trying to fish off the bank. Every cast resulted in some moss or weed stuck in the hook(s). Also, ALL bass is catch and release.

I live about 5 min away from this place and I fish for about an hour each day for LMB. I go at about noon and fish til 1 since I work 2nd shift. It is a very hit or miss lake, yesterday I got skunked and today I got 5 decent sized ones (1-3 lbs). It is a very overfished and pressured lake, you need to have some good experience and knowledge if you want to catch Bass.

Not a bad lake if you're looking for decent largemouths. Although in the summer the SE lake is typically covered with thick scum, I find this to be a good thing considering that-that lake is being less pressured. Never hesitate to use a scum frog or moss boss in all that goop. Use spinners for pike which are fairly abundant. fish between the 6's and 8's of the am/pm for best results. Very shallow throughout. Plastics work best for largemouth. Bring kids for pan fish. All in all, decent fishing, but a very "dead or alive" type of lake... Pretty much a coin toss.
