Does anyone got any info on the fish? I always pictured some really big elusive walleye, northern and bass in there. Would love to hear stories on the fish they found
likely you are correct about Apple Canyon, too bad they didn't move them to more public water. I emailed IL-DNR, never got a response.
rumor has it that they shocked the lake first then moved the fish to apple canyon. not sure if its true or not
Lake has been drained, re-hab will start soon. looks a lot different than it did last week. I wonder where the put all the fish they removed.

Thanks for the tip last thing I want to do is get shot my parents took me there when I was a kid always did well think that's where I probably got my first bluegill best thing I ever bought away from there was a stranded dog icefishing had a choke collar on him brought him home and named him Sparky he was a hell of a dog , abought a seven-year-old black and white sheltie
Ken, depends when you went also. The park may be locked during deer firearm seasons (weekend before and after thanksgiving)
I'd imagine from dusk till dawn. I parked and went on the ice by the fishing pier left of the beach. They had the back half of the lake to restricted access, they were cleaning the roads so idk if that's why. I just moved to the area so I'm trying out different spots. I heard there's some farm ponds out in the Shannon area.
I went out to the park a few years ago to ice fish and the gate was locked !!
Is there open and close times? Can you drive to the lake, like concession area when park is open ?

Went out this evening. Had a lot of lookers but no bites. Got there around 3:30pm so I didn't have much time. This ice was good in some spots ranging from 6" to 3" in some spots. There was one bare area on the north side of the lake, my guess is where the water treatment use to be. Walked out about 50yrds from wooden pier. Shiners on tip up and spikes on jigs. Next time I head out, I will give myself more time. Tight lines
