Cuddyback Attack IR, $249, 1 yr old. Seems to be stuck in IR mode. Night photos ok, daytime photos over exposed and pink in color. No customer service response. Half the camera for twice the money.... Wont make that mistake again. Wondering

I have an older cuddeback that works good yet, but I've heard complaints about newer ones myself. Only issue I had with mine was the IR flash not working, but it ended up being batteries. It would still take pictures for a week or two after the batteries didn't have enough juice to power the IR. I couldn't figure out why I was getting good day time pics and just black night time pics. Thought when the batteries were going, the whole thing would stop working. I have a few cheap IR Wildviews and they actually work pretty dang good. Can buy 3 or 4 for the price of the big names. I worry about theft though so I don't like to hang $400 on a tree and walk away, not where I hunt lol!

I have 2 Moultrie black outs. Would recommend them to anyone, never had a problem with them and I swear the deer don't know they are there.

I have had problems with our cuddebacks, particularly the no flash. Two of them no longer work. I have a 3 year old capture that works just fine. I just returned the first cuddeback 35 mm film cam at the office in De Pere and got $100 for it. I purchased an Attack Black Flash which normally goes for $240. It says it runs a whole year off 4 D batteries. I'll be happy if I get 3 years off it.

chasinggame.com is a good source for camera reviews and opinions. Reconyx cameras have problems also, but it is harder to find those bad reviews because who would admit to spending $600 and the camera does not work. My group runs a lot of cameras and has over the last 12 years. They all seem to last about 2 years and then they either fail or give you problems. Because of this we like to buy cameras in the $100-$150 range as they seem to be the best bang for your buck. Moultrie M80's have been really good but they are getting harder to find, actually any of the M-series Moultries have been good to us, great IR range. Scoutguards and Covert have been real work horses as well for longer than 2 years but they are starting to have issues. Cudde's when good are hard to beat for day time picture quality and speed but they are so fricken moody I will not buy another one. Spypoints have been very nice but we only have one. If I were to buy more I would look at Moultrie M-series, and Spy Points. I have never used a Reconyx, because of price I would rather buy 5 cameras instead of 1.

is there anything cheaper than reconyx? Im not paying $500-$800 on a trail camera. Not in this life time. And after reading tons of reviews on Cuddeback It sounds pretty scary to waist money on them. What about Bushnell or some of the others? anyone know who makes the most reliable cams?

I still have an original cudde and a no flash and they are still working well. My 2 newer ones are very sporadic. I agree about the M80 it is a workhorse but they are tough to find. I have 2 M880 and a moultrie black out and they have been good so far. Dont swap cards from one manufacturer to another and use good batteries and your cameras should last a few years.

Cuddeback's generally take great pictures, but their durability and quality is terrible, especially for $200+ cameras. I don't plan on buying any more of them, as every year we are struggling with a few that don't work right. Go to Fleet Farm and you'll see a big sign by the Cuddebacks to not return bad ones to the store and rather work with the manufacturer to resolve the problem. That should tell you all you need to know about the quality of Cuddeback. They are like the Nike of trail cams, as in they used to make great products but now they outsource and the focus of their efforts is marketing. Bite the bullet and get a reconyx. Great reviews and reputation. If after reading reviews and ratings you still decide to buy a cuddeback, make sure you get it from a store with a good return policy as you will most likely be sending it back.

I've never had a cuddeback but I sure do hear a lot of problems with them about both products and customer service issues. For what it's worth I use Moultree M80's and have been using them for 3 years without a single issue.

I have had several. None lasted 2 years and some didn't function properly right out of the box. They are not the company that they used to be. Customer service is not the greatest either. An example would be below your post. A guy buys one last year and they won't service it anymore. That is BS in my book. Mrt.

Update your firmware if it's not the latest and greatest. Helped with some problems I was having.
