Bass Pro Shops RCX Except for the color I absolutely love it. Put it on a mojo bass rod and it looks and works beautifully.

Daiwa HSTA---$169.99...11 bearings and its a great, smooth reel. I have 5 of them, and they have performed flawlessly!!!

Thanks a lot everybody for the great responses! I will be using my new reel for bass in wisconsin and I think I might go with either the new skeet reel or the curado. I would go with a revo but I already own the revo s and sx and they perform great.

There are a lot of really nice reels in that range, many costing much less. Here's some suggestions. I did not include the revo series as they have been adequately covered already, they are great reels and have great customer service. I also did not include Quantum or Daiwa because I have had multiple issues with newer reels from both of these companies (it happens), but what really turned me off to them was their customer (no)service. Plus I have had drag and gear problems with high end Daiwa and Quantums tend to squeal and only cast really well with all magnets off, making them a poor choice in my opinion for those whose thumb might not be as skilled. I will present reels from 3 companies that have not only impressed me with quality, but also with superior customer service. Shimano----Curado ($199.99) is an excellent reel and has proven to be one of the best, most reliable reels on the market. They also are small, and have a recessed reel seat so they feel even smaller and are very comfortable to use all day. The previous generation of curados was just as, if not, possibly even more bulletproof. When they made the change, I was told by a rep, that the Citica($119.99) was now basically a previous generation curado (and minus the color, they look the same). Using one, it felt just like my old curados, very satisfying. This would be a great reel to consider, as you could save green and know that its a great, reliable reel with great backing from the company should anything go wrong. Pflueger---Patriarch($199.99) is a super reel. Very smooth, great casting and smooth drag systems. The president is also a super reel (149.99) with the same great performance and customer service as well. Really sweet reels. In fact I have a couple trions ($99.99) that I have has now for years without issue. One of them was returned because the drag began to seize after a successful fall of salmon fishing. It worked super well (better than anything else), it just was not designed for such abuse. They replaced it with a slightly bigger model and I have been very happy and without problem (or charge). With about 100yd of 12lb fluoro, if I had even a slight wind at my back I had to thumb the spool (3/4 oz kastmaster) to prevent casting the entire spoool off the reel. I was often catching my fish 50% farther out than others around me could even cast. BPS---Don't make the mistake of overlooking Bass Pro Shop reels. In the past several years their rods/reels have turned into top level tools for fishing. Every BPS reel I have used in recent years has impressed and I have a few Johnny Morris reels that are now 4 or 5 seasons old and still work like new. I use these reels for heavier, bigger techniques like swimbaiting, flippin', spinnerbaits, texas rigs (10"worm), carolina rigs, and lipless cranks and they get a lot of use and see a lot of hook sets from april to december. The JM signature series($159.99) is a super reel for the money and is often on sale for $100-119(they may be on sale now). I have never used any of the newer higher end reels they now offer, but I would have no qualms about getting one. Even the cheaper Extreme reel($79.99, also likely on sale now) has been a reel I have suggested to several friends and every one was impressed with the quality and performance. And the best thing about these reels is that they carry the BPS name, so they are really easy to replace if you do have an issue, plus its an excuse to go to BPS in the off season (lol). There are also a few I have no experience with, but are still showing quality and would be good considerations. Ardent---Making great reels, they offer the xs600($199.99) and the c400($149.99). Wright and McGills Skeet Reese baitcaster---I have heard they were nice, they were built for a professional, for use in tournaments and are currently used by many pros (as are all these reels). They are light and have many of the good qualities of much more expensive reels (teflon drag, oversize handle, 10 bearing system, removable drilled aluminum spool, brass gears, etc.). The rods, while a bit loud with that bright yellow, have proven to be a great quality and value. I would expect Skeet's baitcaster would be equally impressive. And they only run $99.99.

My Revo that I mentioned below was a demo model and was on eBay. I got it for $80. It had one minor scratch on the top. Performance is perfect.

I would suggest you do a little digging around there are some great reels for under $200. I like the Curado 200E, the 50E and the Revo STX all can be hand in your price range if you keep your eyes open. The Quantum PT Smoke is interesting but it might be hard to find it since its so new. Depending on what you want to do with it you might be able to go in for a reel in the $100 range like a Citica.

Abu Garcia Revo STX. $199.99 at Tacklewarehouse.com with no tax and free shipping. These are great reels and you might be able to find one even cheaper on ebay or something.
