Oconto Breakwater

Thanks for the info! Looking to try for some ​pike ​just wanted a safe starting point to get in the bay.

There are three places to drive onto the ice in the Oconto area. First is at the base of the break water in Oconto. Second is city park ​which is approximately 5 miles south of Oconto. Lastly is D.E Hall park , it's is north of Oconto around 7 ​miles on county Y. Hope that helps 

Hey guys never ​fished out here where is best spot to drive on I see the park is used is there any other spots that are better to access. Got off next week and thought I'd try a new area. 

Nice day, off County 1, tons of people and trucks 2 miles out. had a good day. 

Can anyone tell me if they are fishing the bay north of the breakwater by the marina.

I checked out the ice today. Oconto city park, not one vehicle or person out, ice looks shaky. I drove out to the end of the causeway by Breakwater and there are ducks swimming. It's going to be awhile.

Saturday I fished from shore. Stopped at the bait shop in Oconto. He told me what I needed and what to use, it worked. I caught a nice smallmouth and a really nice perch using the same method. Both are still swimming. Had to go up the river from the launch to get them. 

I'm driving up to Oconto area tomorrow.  Was thinking about doing a little shore fishing if possible.  Are walleyes or smallmouth in the river this time of year?   Might they be at the dam?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Feel free to message me if you like.  Thanks in advance for any help.  Do pink salmon go up this river, and are they in by chance. Just want to try for something while in the area.

Went out of Oconto for a morning trip to target perch.  Moved several times before finding them in 38fow in a small cluster of boats SE of Oconto.  Kept a limit with several jumbos (13") Minnows and crawler pieces both working. *Noticed that the livewell had lots of spit-up pieces of what looked like crayfish peices in the water. ​How are they finding crayfish out in 38 feet? Plenty of white perch and a few sheep mixed in ​too. 

Thanks Capt. I have been struggling to find em.  Plus I have a hard time putting down ​my ripen rap pole. That's my fault. May have to bite the bullet and hair jig more. Tight lines.
