I was pulling up my third and final walleye this morning and it got feisty by the boat. Stabbing the net at it didn't help and then it came undone and swam back to the bottom. After a while, the other rod on the same side bent backwards and I reeled up the same fish after the bottom bouncer, which came off the from other line, got snagged on the bottom bouncer still behind the boat. Pretty lucky day, getting my tangled ball of stuff back with the fish. Crawler harness with pink and white worked for me.

Fish the weedbeds in the bay off second county park. There are walleye and pike there, perfect for the casting or jigging guy. Capt Jerry
Heading out for the first time this year. Anyone care to help with a starting point? Any walleye to catch shallow casting or is everything out deep via trolling? I realize there is a tournament soon so people will be reluctant to say much. Just hoping to catch a couple keepers, not looking for your honey hole with 10 lb'ers. Any info is appreciated.
I use the Windy app and the noaa, weather bug app the average them. Don’t even look at the wind speed just the gusts because that’s what the wind speed will be.
Sucks when it says n.e at 7 but the gusts are 18!

#1 - The fish cleaning stations at both the Oconto Harbor boat launch and the North Bay Shore Campground launches are CLOSED.
Now for the fish report. Fished Friday the 29th. Couldn't get a single bite on a crankbait....no matter the type, color, or speed. Switched to Crawler Harnesses. Ended up with 5 hogs and a 29" Catfish Friday evening......these fish looked like September variety with shoulders. Only really tried 9-13' of depth. Not sure anyone else caught anything, since boats were making 2-3 mile moves, or doing trolling runs of 2 miles. Not a lot of boaters due to the high winds....we were drifting at 1.7 mph. Didn't have a sock or a bucket to slow us down. Water temp was 60-61 degrees.
Fished Saturday the 30th.....tried every depth trolling from 3' to 15'. Again had trouble with the high winds and high gusts. Drifted 2.1 mph at times, so again had trouble staying in front of fish. Only 6-8 boats willing to go out the 3 miles we were out, the other 20 boats were staying in shallow. Ended up with 5 including a triple.....fish for 8 hours and get most of them in 3 minutes. All on harnesses.....tried Flicker Shads with no luck this day. Also added a 27" Catfish, and (2) >14" perch. Every other boat around was making big movements.....and only saw nets out a few times. Water temp was 58-59 degrees, and 54 degrees near Bay Shore Campground.
I think I read about someone else having trouble with the wind forecasts. These 2 days were brutal. The NOAA and Weather Channel App were showing 10-12 mph with 15-20 mph gusts. But when the gusts are 98% of the time....isn't it fair to call it wind?
Anybody got any insight when the shiver minnow bite starts up in oconto. Did it last year for the first time in mid to late July and it was a blast. I’ll be checking it out for myself soon but my brother and buddy from back home aren’t trolling guys. Just looking for a time frame. Maybe it’s now? PM me if you are willing to share. Thanks!
It was in use yesterday when I was there. Fishing was very slow.
Is the landing kiosk open or do I have to pay in advance on line.
