Warmwater Fishing
Both largemouth and smallmouth bass populations have an average length of 10-15 inches with occasional bass in the 15-19 inch range. A prime time to catch bass in the pond is during May and early June when the bass are in the shallows. Using a popper near dusk can provide some exciting strikes!
The pond has an abundant panfish population. Yellow perch are abundant, but can be tricky to catch consistently from the shoreline as they tend to stay in deeper water for much of the year. The pond also holds a large population of sunfish and rock bass. These tend to be small (3-5 inches), but they provide anglers with plenty of action. Occasional bluegills to 8 or 9 inches and rock bass over 10 inches can be caught. There are multiple shore fishing locations around the pond.
Coldwater Fishing:
Long Pond is stocked in the spring with approximately 900 brown and 900 rainbow trout. There are a reasonable number of holdovers, giving anglers the opportunity to catch trout over 18 inches. Venturing out to the deeper water during the warmer months will increases angler's chances of catching trout.
