Long Pond is a small, shallow lake located in Chenango County near the Hamlet of Smithville Flats. Long Pond is part of the 3,250 acre Long Pond State Forest area. A former state record, 29 lbs. 3 oz., tiger musky was caught through the ice here in 1983.
Long Pond is a very popular ice fishing location for chain pickerel and panfish. Largemouth bass are abundant but tend to be on the small side, however, a few fish in the 20-inch range are caught each year. Weedless lures are recommended as the pond is heavily vegetated.
