History & Status of the Fishery
Rogers Lake had special regulations put in place in 2005 to protect the sunfish and black crappie populations. The regulations call for a daily limit of 5 on both crappie and sunfish. Trap netting is done every third spring on Rogers in order to monitor the effects of the regulations.
The 2022 bluegill catch of 19.3/net was similar to the previous netting in 2016 (21.6/net). Average length was 8.1", with 91% of the fish measuring 7" or larger and 59% measuring 8" or larger; all of these numbers were up from the 2019 survey. Fish ranged in size from 4.0" to 9.7".
The black crappie catch of 2.4/net was down from the 2019 survey (5.2/net). Average length was 9.5", with 47% of the fish measuring 9" or larger and 5% measuring 12" or larger. Fish ranged in size from 7.1" to 12.7".
