Which Ice Suit to Buy?

Striker hardwater for ice. I did get the trekker suit 2 years ago from Frank's to cheap to pass up works great for late ice and spring and fall walleye fishing in the boat.

I bought the striker bibs and jacket both the floatation brand warm and love it bought on sale on line 

In almost 40 years of ice fishing, I had never had a specific suit for ice fishing.  For the last 20 years, I wore Cabelas Gore Tex duck hunting bibs and jacket.  This year, I decided to buy some bibs to start.

I bought Striker bibs.  I am not sure of the style, but I can tell you a few things. They are BEYOND warm.  They are heavy, but I have no issues moving around in them.  Like Hightrust mentioned and someone else, the bottom cuff is a little different and takes time to get used to it.  Overall, I think I made the right purchase and have been happy.  I will be buying a Striker jacket for next season.

Not sure how this went from an Ice Fishing Suit thread to a boot thread.     Anyway i decided to go with the Eskimo Expedition.   My cousin purchased one this year and I really like how comfy it is.   I really like everything about it except the jacket sleeves are not going to take really cold windy weather.  I;m thinking below 10 degrees with a 15 mile an hour wind.   But that doesn't really matter to me as I can fish 7 days a week now so I don't fish in that kind of weather anymore.   If I decide to go to Winnipeg I'll probably just buy a warmer jacket.   But not sure I'll ever get there to fish those green backs.     Thanks for all the input!!!

Korker Polar Vortex 1200. Only 3 years so far, but the best boots I have ever owned. The BOA system rocks and the replaceable soles work out well between snow and ice.

RC, LaCrosse, purchased Danner moved to Oregon in the early 2000s, then sold out both brands to a Japanese Company about 10 years later.    They moved most of the manufacturing to SE Asia, and neither brand is what it used to be.  Danner still makes a few models in the US, that are as good as any but pricey.

Ive too got a pair of Icemans pushing 35 years and they dont quit but i hear LaCrosse isnt what it once was. 

River- after many years using lacrosse boots which are awesome but bulky and heavy decide to get a new pair. After a bunch of research went with Baffin. ​I bought the ​eiger or something like that. Not sure where you live but the Milwaukee area has multiple sherpers stores. They have a great selection.  Boots are comfortable and super warm. Mine are polar rated and I would suggest taking a look at Baffin. They do run about 1 size small.

I need a pair of boots for my wife, she likes to ice fish too as long as she can stay warm.  So maybe a pair of those Yukons might be right for her but  the amazon ratings are in the sewer at 3.1 stars.  What is good for keeping ladies feet warm, sturdy without being heavy?

Agreed, the cleats are garbage. I never use them for that reason. Boot wise, best boot Ive ever worn and it's not even a close comparison. I kicked myself for suffering with the lacrosse alphaburlys for as long as I did. Light as a feather, and the yukons are as warm as any boot on the market. Klondikes aren't quite as warm, but they aren't as bulky and look nicer. And we all know people like to look good. 

I bought a pair of Norfin Klondike 2 boots--the ones with the flip over, built-in ice cleats-- in December 2024 and had broken 3 sets of cleats off after 30 days of ownership. Put a pretty sour taste in my mouth with the brand, unfortunately. The company was kind enough to send out free sets of cleats to repair them everytime I reported a break, but I grew very tired of the problem and opted for a set of slip on spikes-- but that defeated the whole reason of the purchase of that boot entirely.

If cost if of any importance to you, Norfin's Element float suit is a great suit at an even better price. Comes in at <$350 for the whole suit. The Theramax suit is essentially the same suit but you can buy the coat/bibs individually, also at a great price of ~$180. If cost isn't a concern, there isn't a better suit than the Norfin extreme pro on the market besides Striker, but they are way too bulky for me.
Really hoping Norfin is doing well enough to stay in this market. They come out of Norway/Finland and have a huge lineup of suits, boots, gear that aren't available in the US and would blow what we have to offer out of the water. But the US is a hard market for these foreign companies.

At the end of the day, suits are phenomonal across the board. Really can't go wrong with any of them, though I've only used the Frabill, Striker and Strikemaster suits personally. For that reason, I value cost and fit. Someone mentioned going into the store and trying them on, I'd highly recommend that. They all fit very, very differently one brand to the next and even within the same brand.

Striker climate all the way! I've barely used the liners but it's nice to have the option to upgrade if you really feel like punishing yourself in extreme cold.
