This is what I would do, If you want to find cribs and structure . I would look for someone in the area that has down and side scan on their boat. I then would hire them for a hour or two.Have them take you out. You arm yourself with a hand held gps and a note book. If you never saw down and scan work you will be amazed at what you can find in a short time. Sure this will cost you some money but the info would be great. In the long term you will be head. I would do it for $50.00 if I was in that area. Some side and down pics.

I got my map from Electronic Guide Service in Rhinelander. Google their website. They have packages ranging from PDF maps to downloadable maps with coordinates for GPS units. Don't know what those cost as I just went with the PDF map and hand entered the coordinates. My handheld is so old, you can't download stuff to it. I have no financial interest in EGS but recommend them as their maps and coordinates are spot on. They do specialize in Oneida and Vilas County lakes. I just went on their website and saw that their list of available maps seems to have shrunk. My guess is that they're updating.

Bugle Trout, just wondering what company you went through to get that? I agree, $35-40 is a steal compared to the time and money it would take you to find them on your own on a big body of water. Thanks

Detailed maps with specific structure and crib coordinates exist but they're usually created by companies with expensive equipment and experienced operators and data gatherers. I purchased such a map last year of my favorite walleye lake that contains 30+ cribs and the coordinates of the transitional areas and other structure including an old, sunken wooden boat. I think I paid $35-40 for it. I would have easily wasted that much in gas and a lot of fishing time finding all of that on my own.

Middle Eau Claire contour map Here's the WDNR's depth contour map. Maps with every crib etc. marked are rare.
