Wollyworm..
I am assuming you are looking at Ken Morrish's Iron Sally, intended to imitate a Little Yellow Sally Stonefly nymph.. picture attached.. distributed by Idylewilde flys. Ken Morrish lives and works in Oregon.
Recipe:
Hook: TMC 5262, or you could use a 5263 size 14 or 16 (Yellow Sallies are small) Thread: Ginger, Tan 070 denier. Head: Gold Bead sized for hook, I like tungsten (stones live on the bottom) Tail: Ginger or sulfur Goose or Turkey Biot. Abdomen : UTC Ultra Wire, Gold or Hot Yellow, size Brassie or Medium, your choice. Back Material : Thin Skin or medallion Sheeting, or similar, dark or mottled brown. or several strands of black krystal flash would work as well. Legs: Black Krystal Flash Thorax: Hare's ear dubbing or similar Wing Pads: Light brown Turkey wing, or thin skin (mottled buzzard) antennae: Ginger or sulfur Goose or Turkey Biot.
Place bead on hook. Put hook in vice. Wrap thread back to the barb of the hook. Attach the tail, one boit one each side, splade, for tail. Wrap the thread up the shank and tie in the wire and backing material and wrap back to the tail tie in. Leave the backing material just a tad shorter. Make a wrap with the wire, the bring the backing material to that wrap and trap the backing material between the last and next wrap of wire. make two or three wraps of wire then trap the backing material under the next wrap (see photo). continue this pattern of wrapping to the 2/3's point or about. Tie off backing and wire, cut each. Tie in two ktystal flash legs, one on each side. Start Dubbing the thorax, 1/3 of thorax then tie in a wing pad. Dub another 1/3 covering the wing pad tie-in spot. Tie in the other wing pad. Tie in the other Krystal flash "set of legs" and the antennae (goose biots). Dub over the tie-in spot, whip finish.. done.
Hope that helps.
