Well the weather sure cooperated yesterday. Had to put on sunscreen and wore a tee shirt. Beautiful day fishing. The catching though was very slow. Probably 25 guys on the float yesterday and most everyone caught some fish but they were hard to come by. Two of us fished 4 hours and we landed a total of 4 fish including two small sauger, one redhorse and one nice pike. Had a few others on that came unbuttoned. Last 1 1/2 hours saw one fish caught by the 15 or so folks still around. I tried lots of lures and bait .... jig and minnow, jig and plastic, hair jigs, crank bait, spinner baits, half a crawler, minnow on hook with splitshot. Only thing we caught fish on was jig and plastic and the minnow on the hook. All that said .... it is a good spot to fish here at Hubbards. You gotta watch where you are walking, especially if you are old dudes like me, cause of difficult walking conditions (nails or screws sticking up, holes in deck, loose boards, boards on top of holes, etc. Still .... I would rather fish here than some of the other floats. Better fishing and less crowded.
