Black Crappie - Fair: Next sunny weather might be a good time to look for them in shallower water but right now they seem content with staying in the habitat out in 8 foot of water.

Water temperature came back up after Wednesday (4/24). Right around 60 again.

Bluegill - Fair: Most seem to be hanging out in the habitat in 8-10 foot of water with the crappies.

Water temperature was 59 degrees on Monday. Water clarity was starting to improve but was hampered by a good amount of rain on Tuesday.

Black Crappie - Fair: Anglers were picking up some crappies earlier in the week along the rock piles and mounds across from the beach area.

If the weather would settle down the bass should come back in and feed.

Water temperature at 46 degrees. Water fairly turbid after the rain can see down about 2 feet.

A few boats out earlier in the week but mostly just to get out on the water.

For more information on the above lakes call the Lake Darling Fisheries Station at (319) 694-2430

Getting more boat traffic out on the lake but again mostly to get out on the water more than to catch fish.

Black Crappie - Slow: The crappies are out in the deeper water for the summer. Slow troll out in 8 to 10 foot of water along the drop-offs and you should be able to catch a few.

Bluegill - Slow: Slow troll or drift with a small jig along the Lake renovation haul road on the west side of the lake should bring up along side enough of the rock piles and gravel flats to catch you some bluegills.

Largemouth Bass - Slow: While the water has cooled down some this week, fishing pressure has remained fairly low. But I would expect that the bass are still hanging out just off the drop-offs in 7 to 8 foot of water.

Lots of rain has water going over the spillway. Water remains very green with a water clarity of 25 inches but it has cooled down to 81 down from nearly 87 back at the end of July.

Black Crappie - Slow: The crappies are out in the deeper water for the summer. Slow troll out in 8 to 10 foot of water along the drop-offs and you should be able to catch a few.

Bluegill - Slow: Work the rock piles and flats out in 8-9 foot of water. Or slow troll along the drop-offs with a small jig tipped with a wax worm.

Largemouth Bass - Slow: The bass are out at the drop-offs and are down the slope to cooler water to avoid the heat yet have decent oxygen about 8-9 feet. Fish early or just as the sun goes down.

Water temperature still in the 85-86 degree range. Water clarity down to 24" with the phytoplankton. Bottom of the thermocline holding out at 9 feet as of yet.
