How is the ice? Anyone still fishing?
I fished Mickelson’s with a friend today, first time ever there. Took a while to locate over 5 feet of water under ice, without a lot of weeds. Fished from 8:30-noon. Between us, 9 bass, 3 gills, one perch. All under 6”. Nice weather and better than a day at work. Only good catch days I have had this winter has been on private ponds.
Fish yesterday from 9 AM to 4:30 PM, Fished mickelson’s, Spring Lake, and Sabula . Only one bite the whole day, one large mouth that got off at the hole . Was checked by A federal fish and wildlife game officer for my license. Talk to him for a bit and told me he patrols a 90 mile stretch, from Sabula all the way down to Princeton. Told me it has been a terrible year for fishing, hasn’t seen it this bad in a long time. Most people he has stopped have had only a few fish at best, a lot of people with nothing.
Hicory has alot of current now. Flows in from the northwest corner.
Hickory was good, haven't been out there in a long time. Probably silted in it was very shallow when we did go out there.
Hickory Lake. Anyone remember? Remember walking out from Millers. Long walk but caught fish. Any info?
Does anyone know if Spring Lake has fishable ice?
Below 40° F
26° - 30° F
I was over there today also, Miller’s water to low. Went to lower sabula and had 3” of ice. No one on the ice so I spuded my way out , had about 5 trucks in the parking lot watching me. Everyone one was scared of the ice , eventually there was about 6 other people that came out . Can’t blame them for being scared a lot of people have went through . Caught 2 perch and a largemouth
Went for a tour today to check the ice. Plenty of ice, but where is the water? Favorite spots are not fishable. Lots of moss or vegetation on the ice. Lots of dirt showing where water has been previously. Water levels look like they are predicted to continue to drop. UGH!!
