Fished by dam for 3 hours not even a bite. Only 2 other boats there did not see them catch anything. There were a few boats in side channel to crowded for a third. Drove down to Nealsons channel got a few nibbles by some small gills.... ended day around 2, fish less....water was in upper 30s in am and mid 40s in back channel. All the gates were open.
Fished from 7 until 11 only one bite all the gates and the gate next to spillway were open there was about 1” of ice on the back channel going towards lock. Water temps mid 30’s
You need a waterway sticker to my knowledge from the WI state line south to the Algonquin dam, upstream side.
Do you need a fox water way sticker to use your boat below the dam?
Thanks In advance for any info!
What a beautiful day to go fishing! I was out from 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm below the dam today. There were 4 boats on the river and about 4 other bank fisherman up and down the river. The water is super low right now. I didn't see anyone else catching anything and I didn't get a bite at all. But you know what they say, the worst day of fishing is better than the best day of work! Tight lines!
leaddog721 You can also fish from shore and fishing piers at the Chain O Lakes State Park which is just north west of grass lake on the Fox River. This part of the river is undeveloped and has a lot of marshland.
I have never fished the Fox river so I am very unfamiliar with the area and am a shore bound angler. Is moraine hills state park the only public shore access? And does anyone know the hours? I would make a trip and stay after dark if thats allowed so I wouldn't have to wait for the weekend. Thanks
Water temp 40
