Illinois River : Spring Valley up to Starved Rock Dam

Thought I’d post to report from the seawall at starved rock. Basically very very poor, to downright dead. Been out four out of the last five days only caught one small cigar. Very few fish being caught that I have seen, one here one there which seems like every couple hours. Water is very low for this time of year and very little current moving along the wall. Very disappointing for this time of year, usually get at least two or four Fish per outing. Hopefully some rain may bring the water up a bit and improve your fishing.
Fished the Illinois river yesterday from 5pm to 7:30pm. Started my fishing session at Spring Valley near the boat ramp. The river is flooded and water clarity has zero visibility. Fishing conditions were terrible and nothing was caught. I moved on after an hour at Spring Valley and went to Starved Rock's boat ramp. Same conditions, muddy water and fast current. Ugh I can't win. Caught nothing but got some good intel.
A side note: While fishing at Spring Valley I was approached by a DNR agent/officer/ranger? He had a badge and a gun. He was very nice and I asked him if he saw anyone catching anything and he said the group of guys across the boat ramp caught a catfish but he said the fishing has been dead due to the high waters, no boats, no shore fishermen. He did point out to me and asked if I saw the no trespassing signs just west of the 89 bridge towards the sandy rocky area with that little creek. I told him I did notice that and asked him what's up with it? He said, that ADM finally got fed up with everyone leaving trash at that area and now are in the process of putting up no trespassing signs along the shoreline. He said the signs are up but he's waiting for the official letter to hit his desk then he's going to start writing tickets for anyone who trespasses in that area. I asked him if ADM owns that land and indeed they do. It's a sad day as I am primarily a bank fisherman and now I can't take my son to fish the grounds that my dad took me when I was little. Sucks.
