Ash is also a beautifully grained wood for furniture projects. A new restaurant opened in town here a few years ago. The owner was able to salvage a number of large ash trunks when a neighboring town was doing a mass cleanup of dead trees from the parkways. He milled them into planks and built the tables for his business from them. Very rustic and they look great.
Yeah, live has a moisture content of 30-45%. Standing dead is obviously less than that. By comparison, live red oak is 60-80%. I've been burning ash exclusively for many years. I have more standing dead and down dead in my woods than I can even handle. I have two massive standing dead that will likely be a year's plus burning each. I love ash. Cut it in the spring, burn it in the fall.
I didn't realize there was such a die off of ash tree's until I took a walk on my property, now that the other tree's have leafed out. Cut one down and I swear it was dry enough to burn already! Anyway, my ash tree's will save me from cutting any oak or maple for firewood for the next year or 2.
Stone Lake area. The new Stone Lake Pub will be opening Thursday, totally brand new, after the fire burnt the original building down last year. Maries Hideaway across the street is now called Eagles Corner The Farmboyz grocery store has added a LOT of new stuff and have pizza to order and an ice cream shop. Things look to be going better for the future of our town.So if you are in the area stop by.
North to cabin Monday at 0dark30 - current forecast near cabin shows a hi of 55 all of next week with hit & miss rain . As always the temps will vary from the prediction —— No matter what month it is , wherever we are or whatever doing , not a day goes by that don’t have a thought or 2 float thru my mind of the months of Aug- Dec & being in the northwoods , whether work to do at cabin / land or just thinking of enjoying the change of season & all that comes with it . 🦌

I've noticed the same RC!
I noticed they've been especially frequent by the end of the two lanes, where it merges back to one!

I was up north yesterday and had a great day of fishing, with many Esox caught/released. The wind was clipping along from the ESE (strong enough to develop white caps) and I was the only one on the lake. The traffic coming north yesterday was crazy. I'm glad I got my fishing itch out of the way before the holiday weekend.
To echo 44/45's comments....the mosquitos were horrendous yesterday. I still have live ones in my truck cab today that got access yesterday when I was unloading/loading my boat at the landing.
