I've noticed the same RC!

I noticed they've been especially frequent by the end of the two lanes, where it merges back to one!

With the river bottom by me still really wet from the floods the skeeters are the worst they've been in years. Even the recent cold nights haven't slowed em down. Time to get out the big sprayer and put em in their place be for the 80's come next week.

I was up north yesterday and had a great day of fishing, with many Esox caught/released. The wind was clipping along from the ESE (strong enough to develop white caps) and I was the only one on the lake.  The traffic coming north yesterday was crazy.  I'm glad I got my fishing itch out of the way before the holiday weekend.

To echo 44/45's comments....the mosquitos were horrendous yesterday.  I still have live ones in my truck cab today that got access yesterday when I was unloading/loading my boat at the landing.

There is a video on FB of a bull moose trotting along the highway near Sugar Camp on 5/16/26.  I was going to post the link but there is an F-bomb in it so decided not to.  If you search it, I'm sure you can find it.

It's been a busy May for me with many things preventing fishing.  I did free myself up late in the week for a 1/2 day and fished 3 different lakes, catching fish on all 3.  Contacted 20+ pike from the 25/26" class to mid 30's, plus some nice smallmouth bass.  All released.  After 30 some years of exclusively targeting big muskies, chasing pike has been a blast.  I'm hoping this season that I can best my biggest WI pike from last fall at 45", which I released.  I was more excited over that fish than some of the 50"+ muskies I've caught.

Checked on my camper , it was still there , met campground owner and paid up , good for another season.  Hope to go back up end of May with kayak and start fishing…. Goal is also to catch a wi musky this year…. Been a long time, the older I get seems like the busier we get,  going to try to go north every 2-3 weeks to use it this year.

LOL 20 years ago I and my river buds would become your best friend just so we run our kayak down that 50 ft drop.  we had our ways in those days.

Return from gods country last eve . First time at cabin since late Nov . Note on the kitchen table described the last morning we were there & that brought back the memory of driving in white out conditions until Land ‘O . Covered about 15 miles on foot this trip walking , mostly checking out the land & a couple streams , 1 with a waterfall that I was told about last fall on Private property - 50 foot drop -  & reopening the east / west quad only trail to the new cabin . Lots of work with the tag alder trees hanging over the trail from the winters heavy snow as 357 said . Talked to an old buck who was born & raised & bleeds the north , said was surprised at the high deer survival rate after about 150” snow last winter . Did see about 45 total whitetails including this group of 7 with 2 laying down . Lots of critter tracks from coon to deer/bear & no canine tracks other than pups . Saw several partridge with plenty of drumming going on near the cabin. Filled some gallon jugs with ice cold spring water that I was made aware of last Oct .
Awesome trip north , exploring new land & some flowing water with lots of walking  , good eats , visits with some old friends , 2 wood ticks , 1 brook trout & planning next trip asap to make a new road south of cabin - always work to be done .
1 tired & sore embres but nothing a fish fry & an old fashioned or 2 won’t fix this eve with the Mrs .

😁🦌

Just got up here and the hummingbirds are everywhere! I absolutely love it!

I had the feeders out last week but didn't see a single one, different story this week.

Can also hear the spring peepers and a hoot owl!

Decided to have a glass of red :)
