2018 updates from the field

Wanted to start the 2018 updates from the field.  Sometimes helps to know what is going on with patterns and movement.  Sometimes is just the little more motivation to sit an additional hour.  Look forward to adding to here Saturday morning for the opener.

haha it definitely would! Unfortunately they are all scattered.. western wisconsin and Northeast wisconsin.. and in between. 

That would be a fun group picture to take. Hopefully they're all in the same general area and can make that happen. 

Just had a big 10pt make a scrape at 80 yards and then 10 minutes later a 130 class 8 pts got within 35 yards but didn't give me a good shot

Quiet in portage county so far 

Bucks are moving this morning.  I've seen 3 so far. One spike,  one 2 1/2 year six point,  and one big body unknown I could hardly see the rack on.  Marquette county

 Nice morning but no deer yet Sauk county

Saw 2 doe and some new scrapes on walk in.  Nothing moving yet.  I learned if you are going to use a down tree as a bridge to cross a creek, have good balance.  Wet foot equals cold.

Just saw nice 8 pt buck, following scrape trail.  50 yards away other side of creek.

 5 doe this morning nothing this afternoon yet ! Seems like very little rutting action around me ! But I know people are getting nice bucks , just gotta put time in I guess ! Good luck

I've done this a few times and seems to work. Decided to try it again. Made a mock scrape yesterday afternoon, poured my piss bottle in it, and set up a camera. Within 3 hours, 2 different bucks hit that scrape. Selling my urine for $10 a bottle. Just message me.

Seeing deer, but are all just feeding. The video from above is the most rutting activity I've seen in 5 days. Still have 11 more days left though. 

These bucks finally opened up the scrape on our land that is normally opened up by October 15th! Do any of you guys with scrape knowledge know if there is a certain amount of time that a big community every year scrape will be checked for a certain amount of days? In years past this scrape has stayed active for a good three weeks to a month! If that holds true that could mean this scrape would still be active through the start of gun season with the earliest possible gun opener of November 17th? Any and all input welcome because I only have about 3-4 years of hunting this particular scrape and it’s on private land if that matters? My dad called and said there are twin 8 pointers opening and checking this scrape! I had camera right up close and personal so I can’t wait to get up there! One will come check during day and I hope someone is out there when he does! 

 Two small buck this morning one spike with mouth open out of beath this afternoon !

Absolutely dead this morning.  Haven't hunted since Fri morning but the scrapes have exploded.  Quick nap and back at it. Think its the calm before the storm. 2 years ago this afternoon I got one at 3:00. Saw 10 bucks that day. Would like a repeat!

Saw nothing Friday night-Maybe it was to calm???? Beautiful night either way! Set up on a newer alfalfa field Saturday night and tonight! Lost count over 20 deer but all does!! A little buck comes grunting across a half mile long open field and sends deer flying everywhere around me but one doe stays out and gives this little buck the “oh no” little guy put that thing away-I’m waiting for Mr BIG! Mr Big never shows but that was the closest I have ever been to 2 deer trying to get it on!! It was worth the price of admission and a great weekend! Can’t wait for vacation and it should time out right!! Bring on some cold weather!!
