I use my voice, is pretty easy with practice. I have had luck with it in the mornings, depends on if they are feeling frisky or not or how close you are to them. Wish I had a crane call, that usually get's them going no matter what time of day.
I wouldn't spend the money on a owl hooter, just my opinion.
I agree with fetch em up. Owl call in the morning. If you practice a little easily made by your own voice. Doesn't matter if its perfect. Most owls sound different and I've heard some crazy different noises made by them. I've heard gobblers gobble in the morning at cars driving by, airplanes, chickens crowing, ambulances, and even peacocks.
Once sun comes up definately a quick fast crow call. That can even be imitated with your mouth. That seems to work all day when birds are really hot. Good luck. Cajun
My experience has been owl calls are usually only effective for a short time in the morning. After sunup they do not elicit much of a response for me. I have always used my voice to owl call and have had great success, even calling in several real owls for a bit of fun. One less thing to carry in my vest. You don't have to be an expert, the turkeys don't care if it sounds perfect. More fun to interact with them naturally. Some times I only use one or two note of the standard, who-cooks-for-you, who-cooks-for-you-all because they cut me off and I may miss them if I run the whole series. A crow call works much better for me after fly-down and is much louder...............
