I just ordered an Ol Tom Dura Lite vest from Macks Prairie Wings. It just came the other day. I'm very pleased with it.

Sounds nice Falls. I usually take my vest off when in the blind only because there is plenty of room to and it is easier to get stuff out of my poach but when I'm on the move, it's the best for what I use it for. Good luck this year!

i find myself the last few years while hunting i take my vest off and does nothing really special aside from carry my deflated butt pad, soooooo im thinking this year im going to get a decent hunting back pack or hip pack to carry my stuff instead, just my idea i take my vest off especially when in a pop-up and then i have calls laying all over as it is......cant wait for that first roost gobble come april! it unclips on the sides and you can flip it over/ slide in from the side. I liked that front panel design over the two sides that clip in the middle of the chest because the other design seems to slide to the outsides of your shoulders a bit and all the weight is distributed evenly with this one, no matter if one side is loaded heavier, which i liked. The seat is like a tri layer thing thats like 3 in thick its super comfy cant wait to try it out. The kickstand backrest is sweet too!

I won one years ago. A nice one, but I still put extra pads and 2 fold-up blinds in the bird pouch. The but pad stays up and one other pad stays in the pouch and I sit on one of the extras and put up the blinds. That way I have 2 layers of padding on the back and a pad under my but and a spacious blind around me.

Looks like a nice seat pad Falls! Mine isn't quite that thick so I bring along an extra cusion for all day sits. Where is the front opening on that thing? Or do you have to put it on like a pullover shirt?

Just my two cents if I may.Buy a cheap vest with large pockets, dont worry about shell holders or pockets up top.Shell holders are useless and top pockets get in the way.Carry 3 shells in your bottom pockets with your calls and make sure it has a place for the bird.None of the seats are very comfortable, buy yourself a camo boat cushion and carry it with.Run and gun can work sometimes but get comfy and sit it out all day. Picked up a Guide Series from Gander about 9 years ago. I love it! Flip down pad and big back pouch for hauling decoys and bird. Plenty of pockets for field glasses and calls and range finder and all other things used. It works great for squirrel hunting and grouse and pheasant. I think I paid about 65 for it back than and it is definitely worth every cent! Definitely better than a back pack! IMHO Wink

Too many pockets in most if you ask me. GPS pocket, striker pocket, box call sleave, mouth call flaps.

I have a super basic half vest that is some off brand. Has a nice comfy seat that folds down, 5 shell loops, 2 deep pockets and a box call pocket. I can put the thermacell, saw and zip ties in 1, slate calls in another and I am good to go. Too many pockets and you end up overloading your vest and then can never find anything.

In my opinion, turkey vests have got to be the biggest rip off in the industry! Especially the top of the line models. Totally not needed. But they look so cool...and the guy on TV has one... I like buying gadgets as much as the next guy, I cant bring myself to pull the trigger on a new turkey vest though.
