" Some of my best bucktails over the years have no skirt left on them, but out produce the very same one brand new " Many times the worn parts like where the clevis and shaft have been rubbed, give off a better noise than new. I know bass guys will often put out buzz baits out the window in a moving vehicle to wear the blades on the shaft prior to using.

When I fish the Rivers or stained water, I rely more on the vibration of the bait, I'm a firm believer that it's the blades movement and sound that attract the fish. Some of my best bucktails over the years have no skirt left on them, but out produce the very same one brand new. I like using something with some flash along with black.

Don't know about the WI, but on other rivers I fish bright colored blades on bucktails seem to shine. Oranges and yellows /chart. Or even better a combo of the two.
