Need a little help. I have an Mako Auger and pulled the carb off and cleaned it out last week and put new fuel lines on. But now when I tighten down the cover for the air filter it pinches the fuel line. If anyone has an Eskimo auger that has the primer bulb with one fuel line that goes into the air box and squirts gas straight into the carb could you send me a picture of how the gas line is routed? I swear it has to go the way I have it but is always pinching. Thanks for any help.
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement recoil spring for my 8" Mako 43cc? I went to their website and they don't have too many parts available. I was replacing the broken recoil rope and then the spring decided to break!!! I just want to get it fixed so I can run it dry before storing it for the summer.
Thats odd, my Mako works absolutely AMAZING!! But I would try the sea-foam, and make sure you go to a true value and pick up a tube of Briggs and straton (I Believe itts called that, its a green tube) fuel stabilizer. That will keep your auger starting in one pull after all summer
nickydabutcher,
You're very welcome. Anytime. OORAH!! Just use the Sea Foam as directed, with your oil in your gas can for the auger. If there was a thread on that, it might turn out to be pretty interesting.
Gotta go. Need to take a nap before hitting the road with the boat at 5am.
Take care and tight lines.
nickydabutcher,
You don't say what kind of auger you have. But, I'll answer your question the best I can. Yes, run Prem. fuel(some places call it recreational fuel) because there's no ethanol in it. Seafoam is the way to go. It's a better all around product than Sta-Bil. I used to use and swear by Sta-Bil and Sta-Bil Marine Formula. That's why used it in all of my augers. But after a long discussion with my tech, I've completely switched everything to using Sea Foam. One reason is that Sta-Bill has a tendency to cause some fuel lines and seals or o-rings to dry out. Sea Foam doesn't, because it has better lubricating additives in it. therefore it helps prevent any drying out at all.
As having a guide service I need our equip. running the best it can at all times. I own 10 poweraugers and I took my techs advice with running the Prem. gas and Sea Foam. The machines run a ton better and start easier/faster, too. As for the Mix Ratio, 50:1 as recommended by the manufacturer is a good guide to follow. But, if you run 40:1 you won't have any problems, just might have a little more smoke. Please feel free to PM me if you have any more concerns/questions.
Just one more thing. Me being a Marine myself, there's no such thing as an Ex-Marine. Semper Fi!
Take care and tight lines.
so what is the best fuel mixture? The manual says 50:1 Does premium gas help or a fuel stabilizer like seafoam or stabil? I just ran out of gas and now im second guessing myself since i had a carb problem last year and the guy who fixed it filled it up earlier this winter for me. I just want the best for my auger which has been starting on the first pull all winter so far.
Fishinnut, not sure where you are located but if you are anywhere near the Il, Wis border, I will take the Eskimo auger off your hands. How much do you want for it the way it runs, (or doesn't) I have one that my father in law gave me 8 years ago and I have rebuilt the trans twice, and had the case welded, but it starts every time.
I've had mine 3 years now. All I have ever done is run it dry and hang it on the garage wall season to season. This year I'm still running on last years half a tank. Pulled the cover and it smelled fine so in the auger it went. Takes 5-6 pulls to start at the lake when cold. 1-2 after the first run and she's warmed up a bit. First a auger I've ever owned. 8" Mako 43
Love it so far! Cuts just fine and at a reasonable rate.
