BROADBAND, Furuno is not broadband and is very complicated to install, I bought one cause it was less expensive but after looking at all the manuals and wires involved I sent it back and got the Lowrance. Just mount it and plug it in and it works. This is just what I did, you may find something that works better for you. Sure is nice to have when the fog rolls in at 4 am and you can't see your bow light.
The reason being I am needing to replace my current unit witch is a lorance also wanting a radar . I could get both from 1 unt or buy 2 units . cabelas has sale on there 800 mdls witch is radar compatable for a nother 1500. + 900 = 2400 . or 3000 for a foruno pluss 900 locator = 3900 . The Math tell the answere but are they any good I still could be wasting 1500 . If that makes any sence to you guys . Crow

The Bird looks allot like the Lowrance. And maybe it is, The Lowrance is built by Navico as is Simrad & Northstar and I think they are all the same with different displays. I know Hummingbird does not like Navico but ? maybe this was a trade for some past differances. Anyway, what ever you get look hard at Broadband units.
I believe its relatively new to their line up, not sure to may will have much experience with it.
What make and model of electronics do you have on the boat now? Some of the manufacturers radar systems are network compatible with certain head units you may already have.
