I called today and talked to "Craig B". He wanted me to email my pictures, so I did and he said He'd get right back to me. That was at 8:15 am and I waited all day. So I left him another, little more agressive email telling him that this is a time sensitive subject because I want my wife to catch some damn fish! I urge you all to inspect every inch of any new rod before you buy it. You all saw the pictures. It's not like I bent it and it stayed like that. It's graphite, It would've broke. It's obviously bent in a curly-Q pattern.
I bought my wife an Avid Pearl last spring and the last 3" of the tip has like a little pig tail curve to it. It was noticeable enough that I checked the other one they had of the same model had the same problem. Is this a problem or a defect? I hope it doesn't break!
Well, I must have spelled the word wrong when I typed into search box. Nothing came up. So I am sorry for starting a new thread. Hey, I was happy to make a report about this interesting rod!
Here is my post.
Did a sales trip way up north, and on a whim I stopped by the ST Croix factory yesterday. Not my first time through that area, but my first time stopping. I guess stepping on and breaking one of my trolling rods was the motivation.
It was interesting they had a window into the factory where they made the rods. Really. Here in Wisconsin. Wow.
Anyway, a guy described various functions of their trolling rods, mostly stuff I had never considered. I did buy an eight foot trolling rod that has a fiberglass tip for flexibility and the main part of the rod is carbon fiber.
There is a ST Croix logo at the bottom of the page where you can find a "take the tour" link. I saw some of that through the window.
Oh, the rod had a scratch or something and it was discounted in price a fair amount. Can't wait to try it.
Sorry BM, but I agree with these guys. For musky rods and technique specific bass rods, the LT's are pretty sick. Otherwise- ehhhhh. I LOVE the couple of legend elites I have. A lot more sensitive, and oh so light in the hand. I think it's worth springing the extra $$$ for the Elites/Xtremes but what do I know?! I also personally like Avid spinning rods more than LT spinning rods as well, even at $50-60 less.
I have 2 Tournaments(walleye series) a 6"6" Lite legend elite, and a 6"6" medium legend xtreme. All are great rods. not a fan of the recoil guides on the xtreme. but thats my personal preference. One of the tournaments is a 6"6' ML jig-n-rig which is very sensitive but not as sensitive as the elite or xtreme. The other tournament is the deep cranker model. love them all.
Has anyone compared the Legend xtreme to the legend tournament.. i like the split grip looking to get it in a spinning rod... just wondering on some reviews on these to some comparisons negitives or positives on both.. which one is prefered... stores by me have to special order them so i cant pick one up n feel it so hopefully someone can help me out..... thanks!
Yes I have the Eyecon 6'8" m/xtf,it is a awesome rod for the money.Well crafted, very sencetive I can tell if I'm tapping rocks, sand ,weeds and the transfer of the slightest tic of a bite is great.Dont let the extra fast action fool ya,this rod hits fast and instantly transfers to the power range it has more shoulder to it than you think.Well worth it,St.Croix hit a home run with this rod!!!!
