Catfish up-north?

OK gentleman, I am having the good fortune of moving up to the Hazelhurst area this winter. As far as walleye, bass, muskies etc. I already know plenty of places to fish and lots more to explore. The one thing I don't know is, where are the cats up there? I'm assuming the Wisconsin river has them and plan to explore it but I would like some help. Any in it? Any other creeks and rivers in the area? I have fished the northwoods my whole life for walleyes and bass but whenever I've asked locals about cats they just look at me funny.

I'll second the Flambeau. We've fished it Between Fifield and Oxbow and caught some nice ones out of there.

Another place to try is the North Fork of the Flambeau River. They have been there for a long time and to get to good size.

The dnr planted 50,000 cats in the Wisconsin river about 10 or 15 yrs ago around Tomahawk. The further south ya go the better. The Menomonee river has them too if ya want to drive that way. The catn ain't what it is down along the big rivers in southern Wis. but they are there.
