After several years of usage the refrigerator ice maker has frozen up . It appears that the supply line released too much water and froze the ice auger for dispensing . Plus the line itself seems to be solid . I figure to defrost it , but am trying to not repeat the process . Any ideas ?

I only use the cubes . It is freezing in the inlet trough (?) .Then the next fill will spill over into the ice holder .It will do this after a complete thaw and holder emptied out .

We had it happen once when we put food on top of the icemaker which prevented it from dumping the cubes, but still called for water. The water then froze in the supply line and wasn't found until the floor was wet. Now we are just more careful about blocking the icemaker and it hasn't happened again. Hopefully it is something as simple for you.
