Follow up from last report. Fishes a few hours since weather wasn't as bad as predicted. Caught two 14 inch walleye a couple small mouth and several nice gills and a few rock bass. Family caught a few bullhead golls and Rockies off dock at dark as well. Good Luck to all. It was a wonderful week as usual
Fished from Aug 6-10th. Still here today but weather may keep me and the family off the lake a bit today. We mainly fish stumps and cribs. We did really well with gills, perch and several nice crappie. Biggest at 13.5 inches my son caught. We caught several smallies and about 10 walleye. All but one walleye was under 12 inches. Hopefully will be some good ones in a few years. Was a wonder time w the family as usual.

Lot of campers on the TFF, about as close to capacity as it gets. Tornado warning for our area. Really blowing out there.
Most peoples phones work out there now. If anyone has a real emergency, like a tree falling on someone my # is 715 776 0140.
Hunker down and weather out the storm, you'll be fine.
Jeff

I live on the Winnebago system” Poygan”.The walleye population here is as strong or stronger that ever. With many near record walleye hatches in the last 10 years. Water temps here exceed 80 degrees, top to bottom, many days per year. LMB population is low in this system, as well as a ton of forage. Happy the TFF is still naturally producing
Sunny 71°
All,
In regards to the questions about LMB on the TFF, I have lived on the TFF for the last 25 years. To the best of my knowledge, the TFF has had a relatively small population of LMB for a very long time. With climate change, most lakes are warming, which is likely to have an impact on the fishery, Warm water species will do better, cold water species are likely going to decline. I've only caught a couple LMB in my time on the TFF, but I usually target SMB which are plentiful.
The TFF still has relatively strong population walleyes, and has had several strong year classes in the last 4-5 years. The relatively new walleye regulations seem to be working as intended.
In regards to the walleye and bass study that was done on McDermott Lake, the article that was linked is 2-3 years old. That study has now concluded and was, unfortunately, considered to be a failure. Removing bass and bluegills has not had any significant impact on walleyes on McDermott Lake.
Tight Lines,

Not a report, but interesting article from a nearby lake on this topic:

Will be camping in a couple weeks. Has the availability for sites been somewhat average again this year?
