Late report from this past Monday. Went out about 8 am and fished til 1130. Caught a bunch of fish but most were small bluegills. Did get 4 decent gillies i kept that were 8" fish. Several boats were out with folks fishing and it appeared they were all using bobbers with bait fished pretty shallow. When I did that I caught small gillies. One set of folks said they were catching some decent fish. When I fished with just a #8 hook and a small split shot with a full redworm in 15 to 20 feet of water that is when I got bigger fish. Leeches did not do anything. Crawler chunks were ok.
Three of us went out fishing out of kayaks today for 4 hours or so. We caught fish but nothing big and certainly not fast and furious. Most fish caught on live bait including using leeches, crawlers and red worms. All worked. We got bluegills, perch and largemouth bass. Kept a few but nothing to speak of. One bass was around 15". The big gillies were full of eggs and we released them. Perch and gillies we kept were very marginal but deep hooked. Nice day out there. Quite a few folks out there swimming :-)
