The DNR has gutted this lake. What used to be a beautiful area for fishing, hiking, kayaking and remote camping is now nothing but a cesspool. They killed the lake 2 years in a row and are now stripping it of all trees. Using the ash borer as an excuse they have clear cut every tree. They even took three huge cottonwoods that have been there longer than anyone still living. I thought these people could tell the difference between tree species but I guess it was just easier to clear cut. Drive by some time. Make sure to roll down your window. The stench is awful, and what used to be a beautiful lake is gone. Just a heads up for any one interested in Elm Lake. It's next on the list to be gutted. Lake Cornelia will be all that's left once they are done. Morse and Elm are destined to go the way of Big Wall. You better like wall to wall cabins, campers, and kids because there will be no more quiet unspoiled places for the public to go.
