Great lake, but boat traffic is very heavy on the weekends
I've caught many species out of Coralville. Fishing is either great on the weekends, or very difficult, due to the boat traffic fluctuations. Exercise caution as many boaters do not stay to the right while travelling and will cut close to shore around bends. Black Rooster Tail has been by far the most productive lure for me. I've caught Walleye, Bass, Catfish, Drum, Crappie, Bluegill and other sunfish in the same day, just throwing a black rooster tail with a silver blade. Reviewed Sep 7, 2023

Like any reservoir, Coralville can be very stubborn! The water is very murky most of the time, there is very little structure in the lake except for the bottom composition, and even though there is an abundance of gizzard shad, catfish, crappie and white bass compete with the large mouth bass for the shad. With alot of suspending bass, heavy boat traffic and unstable water conditions fishing can be hit or miss!

Nice lake, but widely flucatuating level makes for difficult fishing. Many large boats, 28 - 35 feet on weekends makes for very rough conditions. Good pre-10:00 AM skiing, as there is always sompelace out of the wind. Beach boatramp is by far the best. Have fun!
