Why is it that there are so few actual fishing reports on Lake link

I went to Oconto today.  We didn't catch any small fish.  Maybe 15 total but 5 were over 28".  And other boats around us were also catching fish.  One boat landed a 34" brown trout.  Not a single report.  I do plan to post a report on that thread, but let's hear your thoughts on whats the problem with reporting.

Csection, you are SPOT ON ! I recently posted that my son & I like to fish some Northern lakes (4) with a row boat ( no motors allowed ) for panfish & that was my entire post, no specifics. Guess what, NO COMMENTS !

In my opinion there are 2 main reasons for so few fishing reports. 1. Fishermen do not want the news to get out when a bite is good. 2. People are always critical of posts and it’s not worth the drama.

Loved the Virgil Ward theme song!!  Also believe he gave the lure presentation demonstration in an aquarium at the end of every show and may have been the guy that gave water conditions as "Clear to murky to muddy" on the show.

I’m an old timer myself. Bill Brinkman was a pioneer for sure. Buck Perry’s writings is what taught me about fishing and I still use his methods along with Brinkman’s.

You never know what kind of crowd your playing for is the reason I mentioned Smith.

If only the younger generation of fisherman would study the Linders, Brinkman and Perry we probably wouldn’t get the dumb ass questions, but then again I don’t think that would help.

Any one remember Al Sampson from channel 5, ( I think ) ? He would go all over NorthEastern Wisconsin wherever the " bite was good" and give fishing reports, and he was good at it, but he got to be known more for his drinking, pool shooting and smoking @ any area bar that he was reporting from, especially the Bamboo Bar on Shawano lake! He was famous for saying, " The run is on!"

I'm poor with names, but was thinking of the Southern fellow, Virgil Ward.

Agree Carpio. Zman, I'm old, can remember much further back than Babe, unfortunately.

It’s funny that you said that. I was going to say Babe Winkelman, but I thought some people wouldn’t know him.

Don't put Larry Smith in the same class as AL Lindner. Not even close. Otherwise I agree with your post.

There’s a new breed of fisherman out there now. The guys that buy the most expensive equipment they can find and ask “where can I catch trophies”. None of these people want to put in the effort, but expect to be told where and how. I think it’s hilarious when you see a blurred out picture of a guy holding a 12” Bass or something else that can be found anywhere.

The whole YouTube craze is another thing. The last thing that I want to see is a person’s documented failed trip out on the water. All these people are nothing more than a wannabe Al Linder or Larry Smith.

Kind of like the video posted on the Winnebago fishing reports page. Showcased the specific spot for the world to see. Like that spot doesn’t get crowded enough already. Guy probably doesn’t even fish there much just moves to the next bite he hears of, so what does he care about what his actions result in...sad
