Shaggymains are popping. The honeys I saw yesterday were to far gone to pick. Puffballs make great pizza crusts. Also good in soup.

Are the honey mushrooms done now. I found some a couple weeks ago but haven't had any luck since then.

I found about 10 more lbs of Chaga on our property yesterday.  Drying it as we speak.  Should make for some good tea this winter.

This specimen weighed 7.2 lbs. The only wild mushrooms Mrs. split shot will eat are Morels. Is there someway to prepare only part of it and preserve the rest?

Hello Pike Eyes,

Could you be more specific as to which North American book you like??  There seems to be several with "North American " in the title.

Thanks,

tunes

My best guess for the middle picture is aborted entoloma.

The first one from the picture looks like Hen ,the second and third I would be guessing on. I wouldn't think the second and third would be an edible mushroom. If the second one had longer fingers/hair looking tentacle's it might be a "Bear Head Tooth" it would be a stretch from the picture. Best book I ever baught is my North American mushrooms book. Fits rite in glove box, has all the mushrooms with great pictures and awesome discriptions. Also rates the mushrooms according to taste. A must have

Found these today. The first two along the base of an old Birch tree and the third one in the grass.

Would someone please maybe tell me what they are??

Yesterday, I found a giant puffball in my side yard. It was just off the lawn in a wooded strip.  The inside was white. I cleaned & skinned it. I had two slabs for dinner last night - seasoned & fried in butter. Mmm

You have a bunch of trash. The only edible I see is the sulfur shelf. Stick with the easy to id varieties.https://sites.google.com/site/wisconsinswildmushrooms/

Can someone please help me to identify these mushrooms and if edible. I think the orange colored one is a chickens and not interested in eating the one that looks like an eyeball in a flower. Also is there an easier book for Wisconsin mushrooms. I flipped them over for the second picture. Thank you.
