Stiles Dam - Oconto River

Thanks Puddin, I ended up going up and it got to be a little much with the suckers.  Only saw a couple of walleye taken.  Had been up on Monday and it was great with some nice walleye action but figured the suckers were coming soon and they did.

Yes the suckers are in thick but you can still catch a walleye if you put in the time and can find a spot to fish 

I've been out of town most of the week and before heading up was wondering if anyone could report if the suckers are up in a big and annoying way yet?

Went there today.  In twenty minutes watching I saw 12 to 13 walleye caught.  All between 3 to 6 pounds.  All healthy.   Lots of people there. A lot of people wading all up to the dam to below the tracks.     Tight Lines.

This is taken from the DNR website. When fishing next to private property you cannot cross the Ordinary High Water Mark. This also means tackle cannot be put on shore. The OHWM is usually underwater during Spring and it doesn’t change during temporary water fluctuations.

Took a ride there today. About 8 people fishing. Didn’t see anything caught but did see about 8 walleye mixed with a few suckers from the iron bridge. Water is super low. Also went to j bridge and didn’t see a single fish. Went to oconto break wall and nobody fishing from the break wall, but a few boats out about a mile on the bay

Has anyone actually been up by the dam?

I did a little scout trip earlier in the week and further downstream but also noticed that the water was probably as low as I can remember in a long time.  Temperature wise, I would think they would be in very early this year but maybe the low water negates that somewhat??  I really have no idea how the variables affect everything

I haven't but when I passed by the Hwy J bridge downriver from the dam, it was REALLY low. Not sure how much the low current/flow affects the run but it certainly can't help.

Anyone tried out here yet for walleyes?
