I am thinking of coming up to this lake around the third week of September. I have not fished this lake since I was a very young. My parents always rented a cabin in Chassell and we would fish for walleye. I would like to try fishing it for smallmouth bass ( 100% C&R ) and a couple of walleyes for eating while staying there. Is the fishing still as good as it used to be? Is this a good time of the year to fish the lake? Also, I have a 16 1/2 foot Alumacraft with a 60 hp tiller motor. Is my rig big enough for this body of water? Any help will be appreciated.

CONDITIONS
Sunny

AIR TEMP

The water temps are finally in the 60's fish are becoming very active. Very large pike are being caught with 4 pike taken last week that weighed over 20lbs, The majority of pike are being caught using shiners or sucker minnows. The bass are on the feeding frenzy in the shallows they are just about to spawn hitting on small jointed rapalas and buzz baits. The walleye are also coming on strong hitting on crawler harness's being trolled in about 20 feet of water. The weather looks like its going to only get better this next week.

Fishing season is in full swing up here! The water temps are in the low 60's. Pike are hitting anything you throw in the water, Walleye are being caught jigging leaches early morning and evening on the drop-offs and trolling with worm harness. The bass are in the weed beds and are very active. The crappie are being caught in about 10' of water with small minnows. The weather report looks like we are going to have a great week for fishing!

Well we are 6 days into the 2015 Fishing season and things are off to a great start. The water temps in the bays are right around 56-58 degrees the lake is still cooler holding at 53 degrees. The fish are still holding up in the bays. Pike are hitting anything you put in the water, Bass are being caught off the weeds and the Walleye are hitting deep running plugs.

The ice is completely gone as of a couple days ago. The warm weather we are having is doing a great job starting to warm the water temperatures up. With the season opener just 11 days away (May 15th) conditions are looking perfect for a very fast and productive start.
