Angling has picked up on the interior rivers as they recede. There have been reports of anglers catching crappie and bluegill on the surrounding Black Hawk County area lakes. Trout streams remain in excellent condition and the stocking is fully underway. For further information contact your local bait shops for the most recent information.

North Prairie Lake was stocked with rainbow trout this past Saturday, April 20th.

Rainbow Trout - Good: Try casting and retrieving flashy lures or jigs with tinsel for some good trout action. Also try fishing a piece of worm or waxworm under a slip bobber.

Angling has been fair to poor on the interior rivers with the up and down weather pattern. Most rivers have risen to some degree with the recent rainfall accumulations. There have been no reports on the surrounding area lakes. Trout streams remain in excellent condition and the stocking is fully underway. For further information contact your local bait shops for the most recent information.

North Prairie Lake will be stocked with rainbow trout this coming Saturday, April 20th.

Rainbow Trout - Good: Try casting and retrieving flashy lures or jigs with tinsel for some good trout action. Also try fishing a piece of worm or waxworm under a slip bobber.

The interior rivers should be opening back up with the warm weather. The extended forecast for again next week looks to be warming temperatures. Ice reports have been sketchy but reports are anywhere from 5-7 inches on most lakes, use extreme caution when venturing out. Trout streams remain in excellent condition. Reports are that anglers are catching trout out of North Prairie Lake.

Rainbow Trout - Fair: Try fishing a waxworm on a flashy jig or small spoon while jigging for rainbow trout.

Interior river levels remain low and anglers are doing fair to good on both walleye and smallmouth bass. Trout streams remain in excellent condition and were stocked unannounced throughout the month of October. Both North Prairie Lake in Black Hawk County and Heritage Pond in Dubuque County were stocked with rainbow trout on November 2nd. For further information contact your local bait shops for the most recent information.

Interior river levels remain low and with the arrival of fall angling opportunities for walleye and smallmouth bass have improved. Lakes in and around Black Hawk county have been providing catches of panfish and largemouth bass. Trout streams remain in excellent condition and will remain to be stocked unannounced throughout the month of October. North Prairie Lake will be stocked with trout next Thursday, November 2nd.
