Ice Fishing
Name something that annoys you while Ice Fishing
1) Wisconsin game fish closes the first Sunday in March
2) Michigan closes the 15th of March
3) The WI/MI Boundary Waters closes March 1.
This makes no sense to me what so ever. And each year, I bring it up with both WI and MI DNR's, nobody seems to give a rat's katookus.
How about snowmobilers who just plain don't give a s*** about others on the lake? Last year, final weekend of gameffish, my son & I were on a flowage in Taylor County. Gorgeous weather, dead quiet. It's several miles long and maybe 60 yards wide where we were. Getting close to sunset and the pike were starting to hit big time. Well some yo-yo has to tear through our tip ups at about 80 MPH (no joking), proceeds to go about 1/2 mile, turn around and do the same thing. He did this 4-5 times. I coulda killed him!
He made his last pass when I started walking towards him with a baseball bat from the back of my truck! And of course there was nobody on the 2 mile-plus area to our South for him to show off to. You guys know the type: has to have the jacket, bibs, and helmet to match the sled Daddy bought him.............
Far as fellas walking over when your flags up. Cause they're bored or wanna hang out. My Pops and I would go incognito, in a busier area or a secret spot. We would pull the flag off. When its up ( obviously you gotta pay attention and look closely) we'd Mosey on over like we're cleaning holes or adjusting depth.
Another thing. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I can keep suckers, fatheads and shiners alive all week. Come early morning, pull the aerator, head to the lake, open the top, and half are now dead? I do keep water cold and changed through the week. I add a packet of that blue bait alive stuff. I even tried and dumped a tray of ice in to chill slowly? Thought maybe the cold when I pull them out of the basement? You guys have the same problem?
