Took the little girl out to the game farm a few times after grouse season ended. She didn’t like retrieving pheasants her first season but now, she will reliably find and fetch downed birds. Our most recent outing, she chased down a winged bird that kept flying about 100 yards before it dropped and hit the ground running. I thought it was gone but she ran over the hill and I watched her locate and chase down the running bird. She retrieved it to hand. So great to see a young dog develop.
First post on the Bird dog forum. Here’s my new pup, Parker. We brought him into our home on Monday. He’s a 9 month old started Brittany.
Parker has been sweet, but has had 3 no so accident, accidents in the house. He can recall, woah, heel on lead, point and has been shot over. He is also crate trained and e-collar introduced. He’s new to us, but is pushing the boundaries of obedience in the last few days.
Does anyone belong to a pointing club or training in southeast WI? I need to find a place to continue with Parker. I’ve never trained a dog, so this is new territory.
The little girl is really coming along. Sunday, she stuck a rooster about 75 yards ahead of me. I moved up and she held steady. Two other dogs came in and slammed in to honor her point. She stayed locked up for a few minutes and allowed my buddy to crawl up and take this close up picture. Nothing like these moments.
Winchester. He's 2, so he's still learning.
