hey guys/gals, i was hoping some of you would be willing to help me out. i'm a fisherman, and i am also an avid reptile/amphibian photographer. as my name suggests, i fish muskies primarily. i'm on the trout form for another reason. i'm looking for location information of a protected(and up for federal listing) turtle. i reside in wisconsin, but am requesting info from all midwest states. the turtle in question is the wood turtle (Gleptymes insculpta). this turtle is found in troutstreams and small free flowing rivers. they are aquatic, but spend much time on land foraging for bugs, strawberries, and other terrestrial food items. these turtles have suffered due to poor water quality, dams, poaching, as well as folks who feel the need to smash them with rocks. Angry Sleepy Angry Sleepy Sleepy Sleepy have you seen this turtle while fishing? (see picture) if so, would you be willing to give me a location? lat/long would be awesome, but even river/stream name and state would be good. a section of river would also be helpful. send it as a message if you will. hope the drought hasn't made trout fishing too difficult for you all this year. thank you, -Ben Scott

I would love to see a Wood turtle. I have seen several Blandings turtles along the Puchyan river in green lake. Normally in the flatlands where the river cuts through prairie.

Good luck with your project magnet! I was at a seminar just the other day and the presenter commented how few wood turtles may be left and also how they are not finding many Blanding turtles...
